Importance of Ingredients

Here is a list of the staple ingredients I use in almost all of my recipes. I would like everyone to understand the importance of enjoying healthy food and all the benefits that come along with it!

Almond Flour:

A Gluten and grain free option for most of my baking recipes.
Almonds flour is very low in carbs and it is very high in fiber and protein! This is such a great option for breads and baking as it is low in carbs and has a low glycemic index.

Agave Nectar:

Agave Nectar is my favorite thing as it has allowed me to enjoy sweets again “safely”. The glycemic index and glycemic load is a lot lower than any other sweetener out there! Agave nectar comes from the Agave plant in Mexico.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is very healthy for you and one of its many benefits is has been found effective against certain strains of the Candida yeast, though it is ineffective against others.

Dark Chocolate:

Well we all know that dark chocolate is very high in flavonol antioxidants. The higher the cocoa content the better! I only eat 70% cocoa or higher in all of my recipes as it is better for you and lower in sugar!

Nuts:

I make some great trail mixes with different nuts and seeds! Nuts are a great snack to have in your bag or car they will satisfy your hunger quickly and they are super high in Omega 3’s and they have a low glycemic index so you will not experience that “sugar high”.

Fruit & Veg:

I eat A LOT of vegetables and certain fruits. I could go on for days on the importance of Veg so I will spare you. It is important to eat fruit but for myself I find I only seem to hover around the lowest sugared fruits. I eat apples, berries and cherries quite a bit. They all have such wonderful health benefits!

About

I have always known my passion lies in food that heals and provides purpose to the body.

The foundation for the Cocoa & Ginger site started when I realized I had been diagnosed with a variety of food allergies and was really feeling an overall case of low energy and experiencing poor skin. Gluten, dairy, and eggs were the foods I was most allergic to which meant traditional baking was a challenge.

Through my research and many batches of gluten, dairy and egg free cookies I realized baking becoming a way for me to relax.

My passion is finding foods that do not place strain on our bodies, taste great and satisfy your sweet tooth!

The recipes on Cocoa & Ginger are pure, beneficial enjoyment! There are no guilty feelings here!

Enjoy!
